ControlShift works with progressive advocacy organizations, campaigns, and movements by offering tools for distributed member-led campaigns, events and groups.

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineering Contractor with at least 5 years of professional experience to join us in building and improving the ControlShift platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is motivated by purpose-driven work.

Our tech stack includes Ruby on Rails, Vue.js and ES6 deployed on AWS. We are passionate about software engineering practices, applying Continuous Delivery supported by a complete suite of automated unit and acceptance tests, a robust code reviewing process and metrics monitoring.

Skills and qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience building ambitious software for the web.
  • Experience in a modern MVC web framework (Rails, Django, Express, etc.).
  • Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (Vue.js or React).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English.
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaboratively.
  • A passion for positive and progressive social change, and using technology to organize people towards those goals.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the engineering team to maintain and deliver new features of the ControlShift web application.
  • Participate in peer code review, technical planning and architectural decision making.

Due to legal requirements related to GDPR, we can only consider candidates who are residents of Argentina, Uruguay and Canada.

We're a globally distributed team where everyone works remotely. Your work day must overlap with the U.S. East Coast business hours to allow for real-time collaboration via Zoom and Slack.

Nice

I don't see why anyone would pay for what this startup does. You can easily build this yourself in 2 hours but serverless by double-dipping NextJS, Tailwind, Jest, Gatsby, Enzyme and Webpack on top of Kubernetes in a Docker VM on AWS.
